Abstract
In recent years, the European Union has imposed special sanctions, including sanctions on oil imports, in the financial sector against the central bank and against government entities. It’s important that what extent are international organizations competent to interpret and implement Security Council resolutions? The purpose of this study is to review and analyze the EU action on the Iranian oil embargo and its legitimacy, through the interpretation of Security Council resolutions, the principles of the UN Charter and EU regulations. The findings indicate that despite the illegality and unfoundedness of sanctions and their effective role on financial markets and foreign investment, the implementation of resilient foreign policy and trade practices by Iran are the necessary grounds for resistance and it has provided sanctions against Iran and its policies..
