Abstract

The facade of the commercial ground floors in the passing streets plays an important role in the quality of urban spaces. Many urban theorists consider transit commercial streets as one of the main components of urban appearance, because in addition to their functional role, they increase socialization in urban space and also promote a sense of citizenship. Therefore, in order to increase the sense of belonging to urban spaces and to meet the needs of citizens, it is necessary to pay attention to the quality of commercial ground floor views and examine them. The most important part of the building that is exposed to the public when passing through the urban space is the ground floor of the building. The design of this part of the building is very influential in the quality of urban space. The purpose of this study is to identify and evaluate the quality components of the commercial ground floor facade and its effect on the sense of belonging to the urban space. The present study was conducted by a combined survey method. In this research, to formulate a theoretical framework, first data collection through documentary study has been used. The statistical population of this study was employees, residents and passers-by in the area. The sample size was 385 based on Cochran's formula and the questionnaires were distributed among individuals by simple random sampling. SPSS software was used to analyze the data and the results were examined at two levels of descriptive and inferential statistics. The results of this study show that on the one hand, the sense of belonging of citizens is the result of the effect of appearance and urban views on the quality of urban space and the quality of commercial ground floor facades, lays the foundation for the quality of urban spaces and on the other hand, promotes citizens' sense of belonging to urban space.
