Urban space influenced by social culture: Using the grounded theory method, a case study :Khajeh Khezr neighborhood of Kerman

Abstract

Culture and Its social basis are very influential in people's daily lives. Many scholars have looked at culture from a social perspective and have considered social culture as a set of people’s everyday behaviors. Urban spaces are a context for the formation of behavior. Looking at cities today, they are devoid of human aspects, as attention to the urban construction is a purely physical and quantitative view; And there is no trace of the revival of the socio-cultural spirit of the ancient textures. The present study seeks to highlight the impact of social culture of residents of old neighborhoods on urban spaces where they live through a contextual model. The research method is qualitative. The data were obtained by selecting 29 residents of the neighborhood using the snowball method and by semi-structured interviews, while data collection continued until the theoretical saturation was reached. Findings show that social culture is influential in urban spaces in Khajeh Khezr neighborhood of Kerman and its status is depicted in a contextual model including conditional, interactive, and consequential categories. This influence has emerged under the conditions of central neighborhood for living (community life), improve of the life quality, vitality and communication and interacting with belonging and solidarity (belongingness), participation and socialization and the concept of large family membership, and ultimately hopeful living will be as result, conditions and propounded interactions. The findings of this study can be considered and used as a basis for new structures as well as in regeneration of textures.
