Abstract

The aim of this paper is to identify the micro-faults and sedimentary environment of this formation by carefully examining the microscopic thin sections obtained from three wells A, B and C in the study field. The results of cross-sectional studies based on the classifications of Wilson (1975) and Flugel (2004) and Baxton and Pedley (1989), led to the identification of 15 micro-facies, including 13 carbonate micro-facies and 2 non-carbonate facies in 7 groups of external ramps. (O), middle ramp (M), reef (R), dam (Br), lagoon (L), tidal zone (T) and channel (Ch). According to the evidence obtained from microfacies, the absence of turbidite microfacies, the gradual conversion of facies to each other, the absence of significant reef structures and the absence of oncoids and piezoids that are specific to the carbonate shelf environment and are rarely present in carbonate ramps. Demolition structures and debris that indicate the high slope of the sedimentary environment during sedimentation, the sedimentation model of Asmari Formation in the studied oil field is a carbonate ramp environment with a uniform slope including inner ramp, middle ramp, external ramp that is determined in case of falling Seawater has been affected by detrital facies and non-carbonate detrital facies have entered the basin.
