Abstract
While urban systems are expanding at a very rapid pace around the world, understanding their spatial development remains a complex and controversial issue. The physical growth of cities assumes different spatial patterns that lead to horizontal growth of the city and create economic, social and ecological impacts. Therefore, the need for compact city development and urban population density, urban restructuring has been considered, however, ensuring a high quality of urban life for compact city development in compaction processes is required. The review of national urban policies in countries focuses on components such as efficiency, sustainability, livability and good governance. In this regard, GIS Excel Spss software has been used for statistical analysis and graphical display of maps. The results obtained show that the large difference between the population density and building density quartiles indicates excessive dispersion in the city of Hamedan. The results of Hot Spot showed that the judicial concentration of hot spots in the city's central fabric overlapped with cold spots. The results of weighted regression show that the six variables of land price, urban block area, population concentration, building concentration, residential concentration and distance to the city center are among the most important variables affecting the density index.
