Crime prevention in virtual social networks in line with regional planning and sustainable development; principles, requirements and outcomes

Abstract
Virtual social networks are a widely used structure in the virtual world. This study, which was written using a descriptive-analytical method, seeks to answer the question of what are the most important causes of crime in virtual social networks? These networks are special platforms for various actions of users of the virtual world and are divided into two broad and narrow categories. The widespread tendency of users to virtual social networks and the transformation of virtual crimes are some of the foundations of crime prevention in these networks. This prevention is divided into two types: criminal and non-criminal. Crime prevention in virtual social networks brings special outcomes such as criminal accountability, real-world criminal management, sustainable development, and standard behavior of users. This study has found that the Iranian criminal justice system should institutionalize preventive responses to crimes committed in virtual social networks by utilizing theoretical knowledge and experiences arising from operational strategies.
