Abstract

This article examines the challenges and strategies for the protection of cultural heritage, with a focus on geotourism and legal methods for the protection of immovable monuments in Iran. The main objective of this research is to analyze the potential of geotourism as an effective tool in cultural heritage conservation and the application of legal frameworks in this context. The central issue of the research is identifying the challenges associated with the protection and organization of cultural heritage within the framework of national and international laws. A descriptive-analytical research method is used, which includes the review and analysis of articles and reputable sources in the fields of geotourism and cultural heritage law. This study also conducts a comparative examination of heritage protection laws in Iran and other countries, particularly in legal and practical aspects, and offers solutions for improving the protection of historical sites in Iran. The findings indicate that geotourism can significantly enhance public awareness and attract financial resources for the conservation of cultural heritage. Furthermore, legal issues related to the protection of immovable monuments and challenges concerning private and public ownership in Iran must be addressed to ensure that conservation processes are implemented more effectively and sustainably.
