This study aimed to investigate the relationship between dimensions of collective cultural identity and the social participation of citizens in Tabriz. The research method was descriptive-analytical and correlational, and data were collected through standardized and valid questionnaires. The statistical population consisted of citizens over 18 years old in Tabriz, and a sample size of 386 was determined. Data were analyzed using statistical methods, including Pearson correlation and multiple regression analysis. The findings revealed that collective cultural identity significantly influences social participation. Specifically, religious identity and intra-ethnic identity had the most positive impact on social participation, while global identity had a negative effect. National identity and extra-ethnic identity did not show a significant impact on social participation. The adjusted coefficient of determination in the regression model indicated that dimensions of collective cultural identity explain approximately 31% of the variance in social participation. The results of this study suggest that strengthening certain dimensions of cultural identity, particularly religious identity and intra-ethnic identity, can lead to increased social participation among citizens. On the other hand, global identity may act as a barrier to active citizen participation due to conflicts between local and global identities. These findings highlight the importance of considering collective cultural identity in social and cultural planning to enhance social participation and strengthen social cohesion in multicultural societies such as Tabriz. Holding workshops and training courses can be effective to increase citizens' awareness about the importance of social participation and the role of cultural identity in shaping social behaviors.
