English

Russia has experienced many ups and downs since the collapse of the Soviet Union due to the prevailing currents of thought. The rise of Putin and Putinism can be considered the beginning of a new era in the new Russia. Putin is an authoritarian figure who seeks to promote and revitalize Russia as the successor to the former Soviet Union. In this study, using the available sources and in the framework of a descriptive-analytical method, the role and position of Putin's intellectual approach and thoughts on Russian foreign policy is discussed. In this regard, the theory of structuralism (evolutionism) has been used to explain and analyze the foreign policy of Russia during the Putin era. The authors believe that Russia's current foreign policy has changed over the years since Putin took office. During this period, Russia has tried to play a more prominent role in various issues of international politics by challenging the positions of the West and the United States. This can be seen especially in the Syrian crisis, where Russia, along with Iran and Turkey, formed a coalition against the Western coalition and was able to keep Bashar al-Assad in Syria.
