Increasing the volume of greenhouse gases, climate changes, and consequently, global warming are the most important environmental problems on the Earth, today. This study aims to investigate the rate of annual carbon uptake by water and land environment in Bandar Abbas city and analysis of city sustainability. The data are collected through both documentary and field methods. Initially, hectare of land under calculation of mangrove trees was obtained in Bandar Abbas. Required information includes wood material, number of trees, age, and health factor coefficient and absorption rate. Based on the standard table, the number of healthy mangrove trees in Bandar Abbas was estimated. Number of healthy mangrove trees in Bandar Abbas 198,931 and annual carbon uptake is 2,805 tons. The dimensions of the city beach are 905,000 hectares. 284 tons of carbon and total of 257,020 tons of carbon are absorbed annually per hectare from the coast of Bandar Abbas. Forests and other carbon sequestration opportunities in the onshore environment of the city is 814,553 hectares and the carbon sequestration capacity on land is 1,466,195 tons per year. The total amount of carbon absorbed in the year is 1,726,020 tons. Due to the area of 1,104,200 hectares of the city and the biological capacity and carbon uptake capacity in the water and land environment of the city has a good stability and does not require the support of the province or country.
